About

Les Poirier has worked with wood for over 40 years, and started LP Woodcraft from his shop in Mission, BC in 2024. He sources unique wood pieces of recovered and reclaimed wood around the Lower Mainland and sells at local markets and events.

Les started his career in milling in a pivotal time for the forestry industry in British Columbia. It provided a foundation of knowledge about wood and a lifelong appreciation for working with the resource.

Moving to Kamloops early in his career, he opened a custom cabinet shop, where he made unique, high quality kitchens and other wood finishing for homes and businesses around Kamloops and beyond for 25 years.

Now residing in Mission, BC, he takes a slow approach to woodworking by thoughtfully sourcing each piece of wood. Much of the wood he uses is already in circulation and is rescued from being wood waste. He crafts, turns and carves each item to use the wood’s special features.

He’s replicated his shop onto a property in the Stave Falls area, where Les now creates using the skills, tools, and knowledge gained across his lifetime. Every piece of wood has a story, every new piece is shaped for a thoughtful purpose, and every step taken is done with care and intention.
